MP3: Tobacco - "Truck Sweat"

Black Moth Super Rainbow's Tobacco has unveiled his side-project with the same name, and it's mmmm mmmm good. I recently received an MP3 from the band for their single "Truck Sweat" which I would love to share with all the Badical readers. It's part of Tobacco's new album, Fucked Up Friends, which will be released through Anticon Records. The sound can be described as slightly darker and a bit more beat-oriented than their musical cousin BMSR, so If you're already a fan of BMSR, you're in for a treat. If not, then do your homework and dig the track list and mp3 below.

MP3: Land of Talk - "Corner Phone"

Talk is cheap in the Land of Talk. That's why I'm going to let this Montreal indie outfit do all the talking with their new song, "Corner Phone". I won't talk much about the other tracks from their new album, Some Are Lakes (in-stores 10/07/08), because I really haven't heard anything aside from this gem. Give it a spin, throw it on your ipods, and if you dig, PRE-ORDER the album and get it in your hands two weeks early.

MP3: Emilie Simon - "Space Oddity (David Bowie Cover)"

This excellent cover of an even more excellent original came soaring into my inbox a few days back and I had to share it with the badical kids. It's a version of David Bowie's "Space Oddity" by the lovely electronica goddess from Paris, Emilie Simon.

You might have been lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the stunning Emilie Simon performing live in LA at the Roxy last week. If not, you can catch her doing a NYC residency throughout October at The Cutting Room. If you own any of her records you'll know what I'm talking about. If not, then I suggest starting with her self-titled record, then move on to La Marche de L'empereur, and then to her most recent release,The Flower Book. They will all blow your mind. In the meantime, enjoy the clever cover.

MP3: Sebastien Grainger - "American Names"

As previously reported, DFA1979 drummer/vocalist Sebastien Grainger has a new solo project that is catching some waves in the blogsphere. Below you will find the track list for their new album (in stores 10/21/08) which you can pre-order through Saddle Creek Records HERE, as well as a FREE DOWNLOAD of the single "American Names."

MP3: Late of the Pier - "Focker (The Shoes Remix)"

The new Late of the Pier record, Fantasy Black Channel, is out of the world, and continues to blast through the speakers here at the Badical Beats' offices. Our neighbors hate us, but our ears love us. We've done some previous posts on tracks from Late of the Pier's new album, but we wanted to extend some remix love to all our readers. Here is a new remix of Late of the Pier "Focker" by another Badical favorite, The Shoes. Neato.
