Some great tunes magically appeared in my inbox over the weekend, and I couldn't resist sharing the wealth. Below you will find two original tracks from the Canadian monster who calls himself DANSOLO. You might have seen him open up for MSTRKRFT in Vancouver or heard one of his thunderous mix tapes, but either way, you will be hearing more from this young character soon. Enjoy the MP3s.
ARTIST:Radiohead TRACK: "House of Cards" (Live on Conan O' Brien) ALBUM:In Rainbows NOTES: Recorded from a studio in London for the Conan O' Brien show on April 23, 2008, in order to help promote environmental friendliness.
LA County's electro-gods LA Riots have teamed up with the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival to make an exclusive mixtape of artists performing at the 08' festival. Below, please enjoy a free mp3 download and tracklist for the mixtape, and a press-worthy quote from LA Riots' interview with the L.A. Times about the mixtape.
“We chose artists that we feel directly relate to what’s going on in electronic music today. It was pretty easy with the lineup at this year’s Coachella because so many of the artists are staples in our sets. Every single song we used in this mix we’ve played in the clubs recently.”

As a follow-up to Badical Beats previous post on Ladytron's new album, Velocifero, we wanted to hook you up with another one from the new record. This one is called "Predict the Day" and it's sure to get the enorphins flowing to help you through your day. You can PRE-ORDER her new album through InSound here.
Thanks to the tip from BIGSTEREO, we got our hands on the video for the new VAN SHE track "Strangers" from V, their debut full length album from Modular Records. The full length is a follow up to their brilliant EP, and is set to release in August of 2008. If you're not familiar with the greatness of VAN SHE, then don't be fooled by the fact that they're opening for The Bravery on their next tour. These guys are super talented as a band and equally talented as remix artists. Get your hands on a FREE MP3 DOWNLOAD of their new tech remix of "Cat And The Eye" and see for yourself.
Hailing from deep within the United Kingdom comes a unique combination of sights and sounds that, collectively, form the group Late of the Pier. Their sound can be described as a pinch of Hot Chip, thrown in the fire with the love child of Hercules & Love Affair and !!! (Chk Chk Chk). Check them out for yourself by downloading a couple tracks from their new Limited Edition Vinyl Single, The Bears Are Coming. The first is the title track, "The Bears Are Coming", and the second is a remix of the first track by Joakim.
Here is a brand new freebie courtesy of Sub Pop Records from a group of noise rockers residing in Los Angeles who call themselves No Age. These dudes are definitely making a ton of noise with their recent blog coverage, magazine features, and shows with artists like Yeasayer and Liars (who, by the way, are on tour with Radiohead!!!).
Convinced? Good, then pre-order NO AGE's debut album, Nouns, right here.
There are some hot sounds coming from overseas, and hailing from the streets of London is yet another gem. The group is called Blamma! Blamma!, and they've got a new three-track EP, entitled the.p, which was produced in true Limited Edition fashion (only 500 copies of the 12" were manfactured). The EP from Dovecote Records has three bangin' tracks, two of which you can download below. When you're done bumpin' these tracks, ORDER the EP, and then head over to their MYSPACE PAGE to listen to their REMIX of The Teenagers "Starlett Johansson". It is neat.
The British MC Dizzee Rascal is finally bringing his Grime Scene stateside with his third full length, Math’s + English, out April 29th through El-P's indie label, Definitive Jux. The album has gotten some rave reviews since its release in the United Kingdom, and was also recently nominated for the Mercury Music Prize (that's equivalent to the States' Indy Grammies). Below is a free download of the single, "Where's Da G's" featuring Bun B.
You can also catch Dizzee live with El-P on his brief U.S. tour this May:

Stones Throw Records' head honcho Peanut Butter Wolf first met James Pants back in 2001, when PB Wolf was approached by a sharply dressed James Pants (and his prom date) at the DJ booth in some random town in Texas. The introduction landed James an internship at Stones Throw, some free labor for the new hip-hop label, and ultimately, a recording contract. James Pants' debut album, Welcome, is the successor to four limited edition releases: two vinyl only singles limited to 1,000 copies each (KA$H + We're Through), one vinyl only full length of breaks & beats (Rhythm Trax), and one mix-cd of rare New Age music (Ice Castles). Get your hands on all of the above and stream and download to the new single below.
I woke up this morning to this ridiculously badical remix in my inbox. This exclusive new edit of "Are You the One?" was brought on by the French whiz-kid, Lifelike. His 1 Serious Remix of AYTO revisits some ideas of the original track, but at the same time, adds some inventive new elements that truly bridge the gap between The Presets debut album, Beams, and their new release, Apocalypso. Listen for yourself.
It's the middle of the week, and to help get you over the hump, Badical Beats dug up a few fresh bangers for your listening pleasure.
The first track is a REMIX of "Slow Kids" by The Shoes. The original track was done by the British fuzz rockers Cheeky Cheeky and The Nosebleeds. The Shoes came up big on this one, lacing it with their Frenchy production talent to give it some serious spice.
The next two jams are straight dance party starters. The tracks are from the debut album of a group called Candy Coated Killahz from Toronto. Candy Coated Killahz will be releasing this debut, which is dubbed It Factor, independently via iTunes in the coming weeks. Both tracks will make appearances. Enjoy!
Next Tuesday, April 22nd, the long awaited Flight of The Conchords full length album is going to be released. Many people were wondering what took the New Zealand musical comedy duo so long to come up with their release date. Apparently, The Conchords were held up in a five year debate about how many W's should appear in the URL for their official website, "www.conchords.co.nz." Bret demanded that the URL have four W's while Jermaine was insistent upon the URL having seven W's. The arduous debate ended when they were told you are only allowed three W's in the URL. Since then, things have been going relatively smoothly with The Conchords.
The new self-titled album is a follow-up to the highly successful first season of the HBO television show "Flight of the Conchords", which followed Bret and Jermaine through their various adventures with the band in New York City. The tracks on the album depict the hilarious accounts, stories, and situations Bret and Jermaine find themselves in throughout the course of the show.
Do yourself a favor and add some laughs to your daily routine. Stream and download the two MP3s from the album below. Then, listen to the rest of the tracks on their Myspace Page. When your stomach stops hurting from all that laughter, dry your eyes and pre-order the new record through Amazon. You are in for a treat.

Below you will find the tracklist and a free mp3 download of the new single, "Call It A Ritual", which is a great indication of what's to come from these Canadian indie rockers.

The UK-based electronic artist & production duo known as GET SHAKES have been making a lot of noise since the release of their Sister Self Doubt EP through the up-and-coming indie label IAMSOUND RECORDS. The duo has worked some happening remixes for artists like MSTRKRFT and Datarock, all of which can be heard on the Official Get Shakes Remix Page. The band's track, "Sister Self Doubt", which was recently featured on the soundtrack for the motion picture "21", can be downloaded and streamed below.
Hot damn! Its Remy (the Restless) and Mike (MDY), back again to take over the Badical Beats Blog in preparation for this Friday's monthly ///RESTLESS Dance Party at Beauty Bar!
This month we're tuning up our 1981 Delorean DMC-12 and pulling out all the stops, as we throw yet another night of classic jams and new 80's-inspired creations down on the track for time-trials. We've put together a new collage of 80's films showing some love to our favorite driving scenes – we're sure you'll recognize more than a few... Here's two of the tracks we'll be laying down on Friday, to get your engine warmed up:
Joining us this month are two guest DJs: Las Vegas' own VaJayJay of the IndieKrush.com crew will kick-start the night. His soul was saved by Daft Punk, so its in good shape to get your ass shaking.
We're also joined by Miss Toats. We'll let her tell you what she's all about:
"Hey Party People! I'm currently in charge of the IHEARTCOMIX Blog and the head of artist relations for So Sweet Records. I just moved from San Francisco to LA, so I'm excited to start some new things down here. I'm working on a secret project right now to have a cosmic-y disco party with some very interesting clientele. I want to bring a bit of the disco vibe that SF has to LA... I think they're ready for something a little different. I love to spin cosmic/italo/disco music... both old and the new stuff that draws inspiration from the Giorgio Moroders and Chic and the Roni Mitchells and the BWH's... And maybe its the blog side of me, but I also love to spin stuff along the lines of Electro House (Swedish House Mafia, Crookers, Bart BMore, etc) when the setting is right (ie. Mexico or Europe). But I'm super excited for this party... I'm imagining that it will be like the new soundtrack for 'Cruisin USA' (remember? red camaro... convertible... blonde in the passenger seat)... except they stop the car on the side of Pacific Coast Highway because they can't resist the urge to dance."
Here's the tune Miss Toats sent us to give you a little tease of her set, as well as the mix she posted a while back as her "farewell" to Big Stereo that grabbed us by the stick-shift and made us want to bring her down here for a spin around the ///RESTLESS raceway:
In the backyard, you can catch neo-psych band West Indian Girl with Big Friendly Corporation and DangerMike for a low cover of five bucks, and the dance floor inside is FREE as usual.
As always, stay tuned to the ///RESTLESS page for up-to-date news on our next dance party and guest spots. Don't worry, we'll drop the cheesy racing lingo after Friday!
If you haven't had the chance to check out one of the coolest, most progressive music websites in existence, then slide on over to RCRD LBL, where they give out free and exclusive MP3 downloads of remixes and singles from many amazing artists, all at the expense of advertisers. One cool track that recently popped up over there is a new Hot Chip remix of "Must Be the Moon" by Brooklyn's own, !!! (Chk Chk Chk). Listen!!
MP3: !!! (Chk Chk Chk) - "Must Be the Moon (Hot Chip Remix)"
*MP3 removed. Please download the MP3 from the RCRD LBL website.
Le Castle Vania has been busy touring, working with his side project, Lies in Disguise, and working on a new EP of originals, but he's still found some time for a new remix. This remix of "Hey You" by Kill the Noise is quite the banger and will be heard on dance floors across the US very soon, so get your hands on it now. Download (Right Click / Save Target As... or ...CTRL Click / Save Link as...) and stream below.
SKEW is like the handy man of music. He can play any instrument and produce quite a big sound out of his tiny New York City bedroom studio. He has made some giant leaps for a one man operation, including getting his tracks featured on RCRD LBL and Ninja Tune's "Solid Steel" radio show. Now, he has invaded Badical Beats with his fuzzy organs, swirling slide guitars, RATATAT-like riffs, and genuinely thick beats. It's purely instrumental and completely raw. SKEW's new 5-song digital EP, Stadiums Are Ok Too is available below for free streaming and free download.
Sifting through the inbox at the crack of dawn, we came across a rad new remix of one of our favorite Crystal Castles songs, "Crimewave". The remix was created by a talented duo of producers/DJs from Hollywood called LAZRTAG. Due to the badical nature of this remix, we deem it necessary for your ears.
Although we've heard mixed reviews about 21, the new movie featuring the card-counting M.I.T. kids who cheat Vegas, you can bet the farm that the Soundtrack is a winner. The Soundtrack includes a Rolling Stones song remixed by Soulwax, tracks by Badical favs UNKLE and MGMT, and this new track by LCD Soundsystem called "Big Ideas", which can be streamed and downloaded below.
We just picked up this mp3 from the Dim Mak Records Newsletter and had to share its awesomeness with the crowd. The track is called "Butter" is just one of the many bangers from the Italian electro-punk rockers The Bloody Beetroots. These guys also do some excellent remixes and a killer live show, so if you missed them on their recent US tour with Felix Cartel and LA Riots, then keep an eye out for their next trek.
DJ Frankie Chan and his hipster-friendly record label IHEARTCOMIX have released a new double-disc mixtape that was made for the SCION remix series. The mixtape features 13 new IHEARTCOMIX tracks, 8 of which are remixes made exclusively for the mixtape by artists like Flosstradamus, Hearts Revolution, LA Riots, and Acid Girls, among others. The long awaited Bounce EP from MSTRKRFT was released today through DJ Steve Aoki's label, Dim Mak Records. The Death from Above descendent and his partner ALP came up with two new tracks for the Bounce EP. The first is titled "Bounce", and features Thugged-out flows from the Queens based N.O.R.E.. The B-side for the EP is a clever little banger called "Vuvuvu" which you can stream and download below.
Thanks to the tip from Gorilla vs. Bear, it appears as though Radiohead is having a remix contest for their track "Nude", where fans and musicians can purchase the stems for "Nude" and upload their own remixes. In the lead is a remix from Canadian electronic giants HOLY FUCK, who have come up with quite a nice rendition of the track, which can be streamed and downloaded below. Once again, we're amazed at how Radiohead stays ahead of the curve in terms of finding creative ways to monetize their music.
