Ladytron, the group that helped shape electronic music as we know it today, have come out from the shadows to release their fourth album and a free MP3 of their single "Black Cat" to go along with it. The new album, Velocifero, was recorded in Paris with the help of co-producers Alessandro Cortini (Nine Inch Nails) and Vicarious Bliss (Ed Banger Records). You can see Ladytron debut the classics and this new material live on one of their many spring/summer tour dates, which can be found here. If you thought XXXChange's remix of Santogold's "L.E.S. Artistes" was all the hype, then you're gonna be all over his new edit for Panda Bear's heavenly, experimental, "Comfy In Nautica". The remix is a far stride from the original, but then again, the thought of an original Panda Bear track being played for a dance floor is quite mind boggling. To appreciate this edit in full effect, first listen to the original "Comfy In Nautica" as found on Panda Bear's Myspace. When you're done with that, sit back, relax, and take in the beats, rhythm, and robotics of XXXChange's version.

An equally lovable, poppy band from Spain called Delorean have remixed The Teenagers new track "No Love". Cassette's Won't Listen Video, MP3s, and Remixes

Cassette's Won't Listen recently premiered the video for the single “Paper Float”, and we got the hookup right here. The track is from their latest EP, Small Time Machine, the first physical release by one-man-band Jason Drake. Drake snuck into the heads of music bloggers and tastemakers with his two previous Cassette's Won't Listen releases: 2005’s Nobody’s Moving EP and 2006’s instrumental LP The Quiet Trial.

Drake has also caught the eye of various big name producers, DJs, and Remixers who have kidnapped the "Paper Float" single and come up with their own musical concoctions. You can download remixes from Diplo and DJ A, Mad Decent, and Blockhead, as well as the original "Paper Float" single below.

MP3: Midnight Movies - "Should Have Known"

It's been awhile since a solid indie rock album tickled our fancy, but the instant we heard the new Midnight Movies Nights EP, and the first fuzzy bass note was plucked, we felt that warm, sunny, vintage feeling all over again. In true psyche-pop fashion, the Nights EP has its fair share of wailing guitar solos, thrashy drums, other obscure instruments, but the addition of Gena Olivier's strong, dronitone vocals make this record.

As for the album in its entirety, Midnight Movies illustrates sheer brilliance with it's diverse collection and combination of sounds. For example, "Should Have Known" sounds like it could have come from a completely different decade than one of the two "modern" sounding remixes on the EP, but they make it work, and keep it interesting. Midnight Movies finish it off with a French version of the opening track, "Rights in White Satin", which again, is an interesting twist that they pull off well. Overall, if you're a fan of that classic indie, psyche-pop sound, this is a record that is worth adding to your collection. Four Tet to Release Mini-Album

Heyo!  It's Remy (the Restless) and Mike (MDY) here, commandeering control of the Badical Beats Blog for the day to hype out our upcoming dance party, ///RESTLESS! @ Beauty Bar LV.

Mikey agreed to let us hi-jack the show here once a month- as long as we feed him some falafel, let him go to the bathroom every once and a while, and untie him when we were through. He's whining about the ropes hurting his wrists, so we better get started...

First of all, the basic logistics: We do ///RESTLESS! every 2nd Friday at the Beauty Bar in downtown Las Vegas.  It gets rolling around 10pm and goes as late as you (or the bartenders) do, and features rare and classic Italo/Space Disco, Electro-Funk, early Proto-Rap and R&B and all manners of danceable synthy sweetness, as well as current artists influenced by all of that
good stuff.

This month's ///RESTLESS! will welcome our pal Howlermonkey (aka Pittsburgh's David Litvin) to Vegas, coming all the way from the Steel City to make you move your feet. You may recognize the name from his solid reviews on Pitchfork (here, here & here), his appearence on Discobelle's We Got Mail, or his discographical Crystal Castles "Omnibus Mix", but it was his overlooked 80's electro-funk/R&B mix that appeared on VALERIE Blog (a ///RESTLESS! fav) that really clinched it for us... we had to have him out.  Enjoy the tunes, and come check him out:

Ms. Jerkface will also be judging a fully nerdy costume contest for 10 mix cd's and a $50 BAR TAB, so be sure to wear those massive lens-less vintage frames we saw you wearing last week (ya look great, honey!),
and maybe they'll get you more than laid this time around. Flaspar (PDX) will also be
